Where We're Headed in 2026
A Quick Check-In
It’s been a while since we’ve posted an update here, so it felt like a good time to talk about where things stand and what we’re working towards at Dev in a Box.
We’re a small outfit, and we don’t pretend otherwise. That shapes everything about how we build software — what we choose to work on, how we prioritise, and what we ship. With that in mind, here’s what’s keeping us busy.
Desktop Applications — Simple, Useful, Done
One of our main areas of focus right now is building out a small suite of desktop applications. The guiding principle is straightforward: make tools that do what they say on the tin, without unnecessary complexity.
There’s no shortage of bloated software out there — apps loaded with features most people never touch, wrapped in subscriptions that feel hard to justify. We think there’s real value in going the other direction. If an app can solve a specific problem well, load quickly, and stay out of your way, that’s a win.
We’re not trying to reinvent anything. We’re just trying to build practical tools that people can actually use day to day without friction. It’s unglamorous work in many ways, but it’s the kind of work we enjoy, and we think the results speak for themselves.
Deckfolio — Getting Closer
The other major project on our plate is Deckfolio, our TCG collection and value tracking platform. If you collect trading cards — whether that’s Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, or others — Deckfolio is being built to help you keep tabs on what you own and what it’s worth.
We’ve been working on this for a while now, and we’re cautiously optimistic about a release later this year. There’s still plenty to do — the kind of detail work that takes longer than you’d expect — but the core of the product is solid and we’re making steady progress.
It’s a SaaS product, which is a slightly different model for us, but the same principles apply. We want it to be genuinely useful, not just another dashboard full of features that look good in a demo but fall apart in daily use. Collection tracking should be easy, and price data should be reliable. That’s the bar we’re holding ourselves to.
What This All Means
Honestly, we’re not trying to scale to the moon or chase trends. We want to build good software, support it properly, and grow at a pace that lets us keep quality high. That’s about it.
If any of this sounds interesting, keep an eye on this blog or follow us on social media for updates. And if you’re a TCG collector, we’d genuinely love to hear what matters most to you in a collection tracker — it helps shape where Deckfolio goes next.
Thanks for reading. More updates to come.
