At Dev in a Box, we are thrilled to announce the release of a modernised collection of “Fables for the Frivolous”, originally published in 1898. As part of our ongoing mission to empower users and enrich lives through the transformative power of technology, we have replaced the original artwork by Peter Newell with modern artwork generated by artificial intelligence. This innovative approach offers a fresh perspective on Guy Wetmore Carryl’s light-hearted adaptations of Jean de La Fontaine’s original works.
Jean de La Fontaine, a French poet from the 17th century, is renowned for his Aesop’s-style fables written in verse. Two centuries later, American humorist Guy Wetmore Carryl reimagined these fables with his unique touch of humor and wit, resulting in the creation of “Fables for the Frivolous”. Some of the more celebrated fables from this collection include “The Persevering Tortoise and the Pretentious Hare”, “The Arrogant Frog and the Superior Bull”, and “The Sycophantic Fox and the Gullible Raven”.
This release is part of a larger collection of modernised books dating from the 19th and 20th Centuries. Each book is brought into the modern day with the inclusion of AI-generated artwork, presenting an interesting yet stark modern representation of the story through imagery. It’s a fascinating juxtaposition that merges the past with the future, literature with technology.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore the intersection of classic literature and modern technology.
