Introduction

GPT Powertoys as an application was originally released in March 2023. It’s not even a year old but it’s had numerous updates. It is one of very few applications that can connect to both the Official Open AI API and OpenAI Deployments within Microsoft Azure.

We’ve always been careful to not bite off more than we can chew in regards to maintaining the application. Every update to OpenAI or Azure OpenAI requires amendments to GPT Powertoys; this includes newly released models from OpenAI.

The New Year Update

FY 2024 includes our biggest release so far. In order to reach both enterprise and domestic customers through the Microsoft store it’s important that applications don’t have a ‘Base Price’. The app must be free to install. This means a shift away from the standard purchase models we have used up until now.

There will always be a lifetime purchase option available for GPT Powertoys and this will always include the ability to bring your own API keys for Azure, OpenAI and hopefully other Large Language Model providers as they begin to release their own API options. But there will also be the inclusion of some subscription based models that we provide and you can subscribe to within the Microsoft Store environment.

New Websites

You will hopefully have also noticed that there is a new website specifically for GPT Powertoys as well as a new modern website for ‘Dev in a Box’ (Obviously, as you’re here reading this blog on it.). The idea is that we need to start thinking about our branding and presence online outside of the Microsoft Store.

Our Roadmap

I think we will likely do another blog specifically on the Roadmap of our applications including GPT Powertoys. In all honesty we are still working through the order we want to look at in terms of delivering new functionality to our clients and users.
